Andrzej Waszczuk direction
Andrzej Waszczuk graduated from the Academy of Music in Cracow. In 1999 he obtained the title of Master of Arts in saxophone. After graduation he commenced work in the Tadeusz Szeligowski Primary and Secondary Music School in Lublin as a teacher of the saxophone. He is currently a certified teacher. Waszczuk also works in the Arts Faculty of the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin. He is also an active artist, taking part in various projects.
Andrzej Waszczuk is the founder and mentor of the Saxophone Quartet. The ensemble, which he has guided for the past ten years is his great passion. The Saxophone Quartet is achieving an increasingly better artistic proficiency. The ensemble has performed many times at various competitions and auditions, winning prizes and honourable mentions, including an honourable mention at the 15th Wind Instruments Festival in Biała Podlaska (2012), 2nd prize at the 5th Macro-regional Chamber Wind Ensemble Competition in Tomaszów Lubelski and 3rd prize at the 16th Wind Instruments Festival in Biała Podlaska (2013). The Saxophone Quartet enhances many gala events held by the authorities of the city of Lublin, including a concert on the occasion of the Day of National Education in the Stary Theatre and a concert for seniors in the Lublin City Hall. The ensemble has also performed in the Lublin Philharmonic and in the Crown Tribunal. The Quartet regularly performs at the Witold Lutosławski Forum of Contemporary Art organised by the Lublin Philharmonic and by the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University. The Saxophone Quartet’s artistic activities and their increasingly higher performing ability are the result of the systematic work, involvement and passion with which Andrzej Waszczuk works with the ensemble.
Students in the saxophone class of Andrzej Waszczuk have also achieved success on their own. This year, his student Damian Radowiecki qualified to the National Auditions of woodwind classes organised by the Centre for Artistic Education. Damian has also won 1st prize at the Podlaski Winds Festival, while Emilia Babicz won 3rd prize at the same competition.
